This will be a mix of two reports. Yesterday and today I had great trips and our bass were caught in different places that should help everyone this weekend.

Yesterday evening I fished with a new friend and client that has sighed up for a 6 trip learning session. This was our first trip. He primary fishes down lake so I picked him up at Cook’s boat ramp around 4pm. I headed toward Goose Island to fished the points and cut through ledge in 10ft-20ft. Fishing with 1/4oz shaky heads with Zoom Trick worms and deep crankbaits we fished for 45 minutes without a bite.

Next we headed to Hamilton Creek and fish around the point near Anderson boat ramp. We stayed in 18ft, casting into 12ft. My client was fishing with a 1oz green pumpkin jig and I was casting a shaky head. We missed a few in 14ft-16ft, but never got one to the boat.

Next we headed up lake to the productive point behind Hong Kong Island. Sitting in 15ft and casting into 11ft-13ft with our jigs and shaky heads we fired them up and boated 8 and missing several. It was an exciting 45 minutes setting the hook every few minutes.

Next we headed to Hobson Pike Bridge and fished the last pilling on the right…..nada.

We continued fishing past the bridge casting towards the bank. The boat was in 15ft-20 feet and I believe we were casting into 8ft-10ft. My client caught 2 including 1 smallmouth on his jig.

We motored up to the big sandy point across from Hole in the Wall and fished the entire point with no bites until we reached the small rock buoy near the point. There we sat in 18ft and casting into 6ft dragging back slowly. The next one hour we caught 8, including one near 4lb and several keepers! I also missed a few:(

This morning I headed back to Stewarts Creek and caught 8, including 2 keepers past the back boat ramp with my clients. It seems the bass are holding to the steep, rocky banks now instead of the flats. Shaky heads with 6 3/4″ and 5″ pumpkin Zoom Trick worms did the trick.

Next we fished the mud hump on the just before the Weakley Lane bridge on the right. We sat in the channel around 15ft and casted into 10ft. There we caught 6 on our shaky heads and small profile jigs tipped with Paca Craw trailers.

We tried the hump I had luck on last Saturday at the mouth of Stewarts Creek with no luck and moved to Jones Mill Cove. Fishing the left point that extend out 50 yards we caught 5 more and lost several. I kept our boat in 25ft-40ft and we casted into 8ft-12ft. Both the jigs and shaky heads were productive. This bass were sitting right on the drop!

The last 2 weeks have been so much fun! Hope you guy wear them out this weekend…….I’m taking a break to catch up with my family! Happy 4th!!!!

You certainly did better than I yesterday Brian. I fished from 5:15 to 10:00 am and and only had 2 small bass and a 10 lb. flathead. Crankbaits and flukes were all I could get bites on. Nothing bit the shakey head hard enough to put in the boat. I was up in east fork and west fork and finally found schooling bass around 9:30 am under the 840 bridge. Thanks for the report and enjoy the holiday!

where is hole in the wall bluff at? Also, when you speak of hong kong point, when you are sitting between the islands looking at hong kong, are you referring to the long rock point on the left on the front of the island or are you driving around it. I fished the front today and caught 2 small ones, but they were on the front bluff wall.

Hole in the wall is the first big bluff on your left just passed Hobson pike bridge.

If you are facing Hong Kong Island, the point is on the left side 200 yards inside the no wake zone. Your map will show the contour lines of the point.
