After the 4th weekend I finally made it out the last days for some crappie fishing. Both days we caught tons of crappie, however the ratio was around 5:1.
Live minnows have been the dominating, but Crappie Magnets in red/pearl body and red/pink….yes “solid PINK.” I have never used solid pink for crappie, but they love it!
80% of the crappie have been coming out of Youth Inc area. Near the bank with the dock in 10ft-20ft. The hump 200 yards out from the Youth Inc bank near the red buoy. There are also several more in between.
The flat in front of Hong King Island has produced some slabs in brushpiles in 10ft as well.
Lastly, a few have come across from Bryants Grove Cove near the cypress tree in the middle of the lake. There is a shallow rock buoy close to the bluff wall. Out in front of it 20ft there is a brushpile in 16ft. We have been catching a few slabs off it as well.
I also have some great news….the lake is almost 1ft above summer pool and rising!!! It is time to pull the buzzbaits and frogs out. Smyrna cut though, Stewarts Ceek, Spring Creek, and Lamar Hill are just a few AWESOME places to start fishing the grass. I will try and get out Sunday afternoon to try these areas and more to get an extensive report!
