Wed Jun 10th – Launched at Shutes Branch at 6am clear day water temp 78-81 and no wind. My TVA app said they had 2 gens running but there was no current present.

1st tried docks, weed/grass beds across from the 2nd ramp all the way out to the point. Pitching 1/2 oz rigged black/blue D-bomb, watermelon 1/4 oz shakey head and frog into the grass and around docks. Also threw several color rattle traps out in front of the weed/grass and from rock banks out into 8 ft of water. Never saw much in the way of bait fish. Caught 4 small blue gills not 1 bass bite.

2nd moved down lake out in the river in front of Walton Ferry to try some ledge fishing. Use HB to find shell bed and zig zaged back and forth in 30 to 12 feet of water looking for bait fish and fish. Found 2 spots where fish appeared in 12 to 18 feet close to the drop. For 2 hours threw large deep crank in shad color, 10.5 in grape worm texas rigged 1/2 weight and 3/4 football jig orange/watermelon skirt with watermelon craw trailer. Not 1 bite just could not turn them on.

3rd moved up into Walton Ferry fished shallow weed/grass on right side all the way to 4 ft of water and then to the other side. The weed/grass on the left side was in deeper water on on the 3rd pitch with the D-bomb hooked up with a 3.8 lb LM. Fished all the way out to the point and caught 1 8 in bass and 5-6 small blue gill.

With the temp in the 90’s and no wind (hot, hot, hot) I put the boat back behind the truck and turn the air on high.

I did the same thing and finally ended up catching 5 keepers (LM) (nothing big) in 4 to 6ft water around the grass and just outside the shade line. Went out early, but did not start catching fish until around 1:00pm, quit at 2:00pm (too hot). Caught the fish using a shallow black /orange and a chartreuse / black crank baits.
Thanks for the post, helps to know how others are doing on the lake.

Hot is not the word for it…so hot that my self inflating life vest went off in the boat seat…thought I had been shot at!
