Went out two nights ago for few hours of fishing. Had a great night with one of my guides casting 3/4oz Hoppy’s spinnerbaits mostly and shaky heads at the end of the night. We started at Smith Springs recreational boat ramp. Just to the left couple hundred yards from the ramp we started fishing the points. The water temperature was in the low 80s and the water clarity was normal for that part of the lake. I kept the boat in 8 – 20 feet of water as we cast anywhere from 3-8 ft retrieving our spinnerbaits slowly where we could feel the big Colorado blade thumping its way back in. Most of the time I had a red crawfish on for a trailer or a black and red ribbon tail Power Worm followed by trailer hook. During that stretch the caught 3 including 2 smallmouths, one was a nice keeper that came off when I tried to swing it in the boat. Next we moved back up lake under Hobson Pike into the Cove on the left. We fish the main point where the bluff wall ends and the cove begins. Keeping the boat in 12 to 20 ft we continued with our spinnerbaits catching three scattered around that point. Our last spot which stayed the longest was the west side of Ponderosa Island facing Mouse tail island. We fished almost the entire bank with spinnerbaits and 1/4 ounce shaky heads casting to the big boulder rocks in 3 feet that come all the way out to 10 feet. We call probably 12 here including a few keepers. At one time we had a double! Great night…back at it again tonight!
