The last couple trips on Percy Priest have continued to be a grind. I know many others that have had the same results. There are a few guys fishing the docks that have had the most success. Nevertheless, I don’t and can’t fish docks with clients……just brushpiles. The last couple days I’v been having two fish 20-30 brushpiles just to get 8-12 keepers. It’s been discouraging and frustrating. My hope Is that because we had a crazy spring, with the coldest April, and the warmest May, the fish are still transitioning into their Summer patterns. Recently I’ve seen baby ducks swimming around Fate Sanders Marina. I’ve also seen a bunch of eggs on my motor after a day of fishing. My hope Is that the next week or two we’ll get back to 20, 30, 40 keepers on a 6 hour or longer trip. This is the toughest crappie year I have seen since I started guiding. Some of the areas we have been successful(although they change each week) have been near the Youth Incorporated Camp just passed the second cut through, near the Weakley lane bridge in 16 feet of water, and near Hong Kong Island. Fishing 11 to 18 ft and brush piles with minnows jigs has been our best options. There’s been no specific color. Hope to post good reports soon!
