The crappie are biting more consistently week by week. The last few days the upper end of the lake near Fate Sanders has produced a 12 -15 keepers on most of my trips. Brush piles in 10 to 16 ft of water have been the best depths. Jones Mill Cove, where the abandoned boat ramp is, has produced many crappie in the last 24 hours in addition to Pooles Knob boat ramp. Live minnows have been the most productive, but some days the jigs slowly knocking the wood seems to trigger more fish. The Crappie Magnets fished on a 1/8 jig in chartreuse & clear body has been the best producer for us. Mid like around Ponderosa Island and Hong Kong Island has produced fewer crappie, but quality to say the least. 12 to 15 in has been the normal. We should see more and more crappie concentrating in deeper water into the next week. Looking forward to 20, 30, and 40 fish stringers!
