I thought I knew the lake pretty good. Been fishing it since the lake was built. There is no way you can know where every big rock is right below the surface. On the bank side of N 36 02 774 —— W 086 30 102, there are a couple of “money rocks”. You cannot see them but believe me they are there. I know and my lower unit knows. I was very close to my waypoint going 7-10MPH. Whammo…..oil rose to the surface… bad I had to use my trolling motor to get back to dock.

Thanks for the warning! I lost a prop 2 yrs ago when I hit the unmarked rock between Strewart Creek boat ramp and the main channel. It’s about in the center, about 150 yards in front of the ramp. It was about a foot below the surface during winter pool level.

Thanks for the heads up.. I love my lake maps but still get the pucker factor going sometime when out there.

Been there and done that and it costs me a few thousand $$$. It is a tough lake to fish in winter pool without the fear of running aground. Hopefully we will start going toward summer pool in the near future. For the time being I will probably concentrate on Tim’s Ford. However today I’m heading to PP but with a friend in HIS boat. 😉 😉

I tried to put in at Cook’s boat ramp on Monday. As I was backing the boat in I felt the trailer hit a BIG rock. I pulled up and tried the other side of the ramp. Same thing….I gave up and went to Seven Points. I had a quarter size ding on the back of my boat. When I pulled in to Cook’s I was wondering why there were no other boat trailers parked….Now I know. Does anyone know when the lake will be headed back up?
