The last couple days have been a blast on Percy Priest! The quality has been a little lower, but we have been catching 15-25 bass a trip!

Today I fished with a regular client of mine. We started at the Weakley Lane bridge, casting pearl flukes to the pillars. We caught 2 short bass and lost 2 fishing weedless flukes just underneath the surface. Next, we headed to the Smyrna pump house cut through. 2 morning prior we caught around 12 and had near 20 strikes on our white buzzbaits. Most of our bites came on the left bank heading up lake. This trip we did not get a sniff!!! We fished through and headed to the Jefferson Pike bridge.

There we fished buzzbaits and flukes without a strike around the pillars.

We motored down lake to the flat just to the right on Lamar Hill boat ramp. Casting C-rigs and jigs we each had 2-3 bites, but only hook one that got off near the boat! We kept our boat in 5-7ft, casting into 3-4ft.

We tried a hump on the down lake side of the Weakley Lane bridge(50 past bridge on the left going down lake). Sitting in 15ft and casting into 8-10ft, we caught 1 short fish on a strike king bitsy jig….green pumpkin with Paca craw trailor.

I moved down lake to the small pocket at the end of the bluff wall across from Bryants Grove boat ramp. Fishing the pocket and point, we caught 2, including a 4lb largemouth on a plastic lizard(green pumpkin). We fished with 3/16oz Texas rigs and c-rig. There was bait EVERYWHERE on the point in 12-20ft. I believe if we sat there longer we could have caught a couple more.

Next we fished the left point of Hong Kong Island. Keeping our boat in 10ft-15ft and casting directly down the ledge, we caught 5 there with one keeper. I could see on my structure scan the fish sitting right on the ledge. While we dragged our green pumpkin and pumpkinseed lizards slowly across the ledge….boom!

We moved to the north side of the island in front of Hong Kong island. There is a big rock hump 50 yards off the bank with a ROCK buoy on it. Casting our lizards we caught 1 and missed 2. One of which was a 4+lbs that shook the hook right near the boat:( We keep our boat in 11ft, casting into 8ft.

Our last spot was Bryants Grove big, bluff wall point. Lizards all the way……not bites there.

For the day we caught 16-18 bass.

The deep bite is picking up!!!

I have been catching a few bass on that gravel flat next to Lamar Hill. I guess I will have to try bryants grove soon.
