Fun day on Old Hickory this morning. Launching from Flippers at 6:45am we headed down lake pass Cedar Creek to the first cove on the left after the channel swings to the right up against the block wall. The current was fierce, but once you got out of the channel it wasn’t too bad. The water temperature was 65 degrees with 1 foot visibility. I tied on Hoppy’s Flea Flicker jig in black and blue with a plurple Paca craw, 1/4oz Texas Rig with a black and blue speed craw, and a shaky head with green Ppumpkin trick worm. We keep the boat in 6-8 feet of water and cast to the rocks and lay downs….dragging back slowly. We fished each bank and has bites after 40 minutes. We traveled down lake further just to find the wind and waves were too strong not only to fish, but manage a boat. We turned around and started heading up lake. I motored to Cages Bend and into the first two covea on the left. Fishing the riprap banks we kept the boat and 8 to 10 feet and flipped our plastics in 2ft. We caught 4 fish in the first cove including one four pounder! In the next cove we caught a few more short fish and one keeper. We cruised out of the creeks end up lake into Goo Goo Cove under the power lines. We fished 75% of the Cove, mostly on the left side and kept the boat in 6 feet. It was a little breezy so I tied on weightless sinkos in green pumpkin and we slowly finesse fished the boulder rocks starting in 2 feet. We caught 4 including one keeper over the next hour. We finished inside Flippers Cove. Fishing next to the red boat dock on the left once you enter into the no wake zone we caught a 4.5lbs! She came on a green pumpkin sinko. Back near the bridge we caught three more short fish. We idled to the boat ramp and put the boat on the trailer. We took some great pictures and released our fish!
