Yesterday I fished from 6-2pm with two clients on Old Hickory out of Flippers.

We had a really good day and I was very pleased with our results, being that I have not been on OH for a few week.

We started in the cove half a mile up from the Gallatin steam plant. There is a little opening at the mouth on the right and then it opens up to 3 big clover coves(underneath the power lines). Fishing with green pumpkin sinkos(weightless), we caught over 12, including two 3.5lbs, 2-3 more keepers and some smaller bass. We fished the entire cove casting directly to the bank, letting the sinko sink and then lifting it forward, allowing it to fall again. The fish would always strike when the lure was falling.

Next we motored up lake to Hidden cove. We fished the boat docks on the right bank of the cove. Fishing with white 1/2oz. double willow spinnerbaits and sinkos with caught 3, including one keeper in 3ft of water.

The wind was howling so we took a slow, long ride down to Station Camp. We started in the back of the ski cove casting rattle traps(sexy shad). Retrieving at a fast pace we caught 8-10 more, including a 5lb! In the back there is an island on the left. All around the island there are big chuck rock the bass love to to hold to!

We motored out of the ski cove and towards the back of the creek. Fishing the next three points on the left we caught 3 more, including 2 keepers. The channel swings up against those point, offering great depth and cover for bass to hold to. Strike King Bitsy Jig(blk/blue) with black Paca Craw trailer and rattle traps were productive.

Fun day with two great guys! Can’t wait to get back to Old Hickory…..great fishery!

Brian – Where exactly is this island located within Station Camp? I’ve been in there several times and wasn’t aware of an island back there.

Unless you’re talking about the tiny one behind the Marina?

This is in the ski cove. It is actually a peninsula in the back of the cove near the golf course.

Ahhh, I see it now. Thank you, Sir!
