Today we had another fun day on the water. Fishing for bass we caught around 15.

We started at the point off the bluff wall across from Bryants Grove boat ramp. The shad were skipping the water up on the bank with a few surface breaks here and there. Fishing with poppers, my clients caught 2 and and lost one good fish right on the bank in 2ft. We fished around the sand hump off the bank in 5ft-12ft with rattle traps and plastic worms catching 2 more…..no big girls.

Next we moved to the Lavergne pump house. Starting at the pump house fishing towards the cut through for 200 yards we fished with poppers and buzzbaits in 1ft-4ft….nada.

I trolled over to the PVC pipe in the middle of the cut through and started casting shaky heads. Around the PVC pipe there are big boulders in 5ft. First few cast….boom! 18″ smallmouth! We fished for 15 more minutes without a bite and packed it up.

Next we fished the island straight out from Four Corners. Fishing the north bank, side facing the bridge, we caught 8 and lost one good keeper on plastic worms. At the east point of the island, facing the red buoy, we cast our shaky heads into 4ft retrieving into 8ft in the rocks. We did not have any big fish there, but several 14″ largemouth.

We came back down to Weakley Lane bridge and caught 2 back to back on rattle traps right on the rip rap.

We tried Stewarts Creek big point on the left in 10-12ft on the main channel with no luck.

All and all, fun day! Fishing tournament in the morning……hope the big girls bite!!
