I’ll start with a picture of the most memorable crappie day I’ve had on Percy Priest!

Yesterday I fished with the Hagman and we caught 75 crappie with our limit of 60 keepers for over 50lbs! We caught some fish on Yellow Crappie Magnets, but most of our keepers came on live minnows tight-lined 2-3 turns off the bottom.

We stayed the entire 5.5 hours(YES, only 5.5 hours) around Mouse Tail Island. We fished the west and north side of the island in 10ft-18ft around brushpiles. It was unreal….one after another and they were almost all 12″-15″!!!!! The deep bite is on throughout the lake!

As for the bass, they have been biting really well also in deep water. However, I have had a couple trips where we caught a lot of fish shallow too.

Stewart’s Creek main lake point is still producing. From the beginning of the point to the tip 200 yards out, shaky heads with green pumpking crawfish and Trick worms have been working great as well as Strike King 6XD in citrus color. I sit in the channel from 20ft-30ft and cast onto the point. Get that crankbait down there and dig until it stops!

I have also been catching a few bass on the hump in between the two red buoys(one buoy is small and plastic and the other is large and metal) on the right side of the mouth of Stewart’s Creek. Here you want to sit in 16ft-18ft and cast toward the creek into 10ft. Shaky heads with green/gold flake Zoom Trick worms have been the best producer here.

The back left corner in the cove across from the Youth Camp produced several nice bass Thursday evening. Casting to the bank with shaky heads and shallow crankbaits in shad color we caught 8 nice fish, including one quality largemouth and smallmouth.

Finally, the big rock hump with the cypress tree and rock buoys around it across the channel from Bryants Grove cove has started to produce. There has been tons of bait on top of the hump in 8ft-14ft. I have been keeping my boat in 20+ and casting up on hump. A-rig, 6XD, and shaky heads have been producing here. The best spot has been near the rock metal sign to the left of the cypress tree. Sitting in 14ft-16ft and casting to 8ft where the bottom is sandy, we have been successful.

Once again, the cove to the right before you get to the Hobson Pike bridge coughed up some quality fish this week, but this time it was not at the mouth on the big boulders. A few days ago I started to the right of the boulder rocks in the middle on the rocky point. Casting shallow shad color crankbaits(1ft-4ft) we caught 10, including 2 nice keepers(1 giant smallmouth). The fish were right up against the bank all the way to the back where you started to come up the other side. I kept the boat in 8ft-10ft. We could not get them to bite our poppers and spooks, they wanted the crankbaits!

Jones Mill point was good in the beginning of the week sitting in the channel fishing near the green buoy, but it has died off for me. The other day I scanned it and it looked quite down there.

I’m still working on the videos. I got some good stuff recorded just piecing it together now and talking to my web guy on how I can offer it. I think it will be like another forum your need to sign up for and then videos will be in there.
