Short report for Priest as I am going to put one up for Old Hickory too.

The bass have been biting really well!

Today I fished with 2 lures all day…..shaky head with green pumpkin/red flake and swing head jig with a Big Bite craw fish in green pumpkin/neon green belly.

The water was 74-77 throughout the lake today with 1-1.5 vis up lake and 3+ft down lake.

I started my trip today at the Anderson boat ramp in Hamilton Creek. Fishing from there all the way to the back of the cove we caught 10 including several of keepers…all largemouths. The best area was the first 200 yards. I sat in 8-12ft and cast to the bank.

Then we fish across the cove on the left point of sailboat cove. Fishing for only 20 minutes we caught 1 decent fish. I kept the boat in 15ft as we cast to the bank.

Next we went into Smith Springs and fished the bank left bank past the YMCA dock. I kept the boat in 10ft casting to the bank…1 decent fish and 2 short fish.

We moved across the cove and fishing the pockets between Smith Spring boat ramp and the Anderson boat ramp. Sitting in 8ft-16ft and almost cast to the bank the entire time we caught 10 more, including a lot of short fish, a 5+lb and pair of 3lb!

Next we moved to the right point of the cut through at the tip of the Hole in the wall bluff. The little area that you drive through when your heading to Smith Springs. Fishing the boulder rocks for 100 yards while we sat in 8ft we caught 6 more, including 2 more keepers!

Our last spot was the pocket on the right before Hobson Pike bridge(if you going down lake). We did not go into the far pocket, but stayed out on the main part. Fishing the boulder rocks in 4ft-6ft we caught 12 mor, including several more nice keeper and lost a smallie!

All and all…AWESOME day with some great client! Sorry for any spelling errors. Between several 13 hour days on the water, church and a 1 and 3 year old, I’m running out of gas.

P.S. The crappie are starting to bite better around the lake in 10ft-20ft on minnows and Crappie Magnets(Percy and Spicy Mustard). However, a lot of crappie are suspending on top of the trees. So you need to raise you lure a little more or use a slip float above the trees. Four Corners area and Pooles Knob boat ramp has been good areas for me.

Great report! How heavy shaky head and how long of a worm were you fishing?
