The last few days I have been doing a lot of crappie fishing. They seem to be biting pretty good, 20+ keepers a trip, except for 1 trip where we had 12. All in 10ft-18ft brushpiles around Fate Sanders, Long Hunter and Bryant Grove.

As for the bass, I have still been fishing mid and down lake. My last two bass trips we caught the majority of our fish in the YMCA cove with the big slides. The water has been 69-71 degrees. We kept the boat in 6ft-8ft, casting into 2ft. The water clarity is 2-3ft.

The first trip back there we caught 8 and second trip 9 bass fishing with Texas rig lizards. 1/8oz and 3/16oz weights have been my choice as long as it is not too windy(then I go to 1/4oz). Green pumpkin and watermelon has been are main producers! The hottest area is near the slides where they have dredged out a few extra feet so the kids do not hit the bottom as they come off the slide. The bass have been sitting around and on the ledge of the deep hole. We have also caught several around the small dock with the fisher feeder hanging off the side(I wish I was there when they turn that thing on!!!). Lastly, the left bank(going in towards the back) has produced a few nice ones. The water is a little deeper there, holding a few bigger fish.

Another area that has been holding some fish is in the Anderson boat ramp in Smith Springs. Fishing the cove just left of the boat ramp we have been catching several in some of the many brushpiles that are in 4ft-8ft of water. They are scattered on the shore in 4ft and out in the middle near the back of the cove in 8ft. Lizards again have been working for us there.

Lastly, Hamilton creek has still been producing on the left bank going into the creek with the boat ramp. The early morning bite was great the other day with topwater….4+lb largemouth and then 10 more with one keeper on poppers and lizards! We have been keeping the boat in 8-10ft, casting into 3ft around the boulder rocks.

I keep hearing about Sister Cove, so that is still producing fish for some anglers.

I’ll be out all tomorrow and all next week!

    Tight Lines!

Since I have not fished since last saturday, I think I am going to go tommorow on my jonboat with the trolling motor. I will probably hit sister cove of the bank too. I caught a 5 pound catfish on 2 pound test today at lamar hill boat ramp.

Man, I’ve got to get on this Lizard bite! What color are you guys usually using, some variation of Watermelon or Green Pumpkin I’d imagine?

I had awesome luck with Pumpkinseed w/ orange glitter. My go-to colors are Watermelon Red and Watermelon Purple.
