Mother’s Day Fishing Trip
Went fishing this am on Mother’s Day. No big Deal cause My Mom passed Away 6 years ago and my Wife 3 years ago. Still miss both of them. Nuff about that. Went to Poole’s Knob and fished the campground site, not the cove at first, just past that down on the bank. Caught another short one on a Rico like last time. Went back to the point, and caught two there, one on a green pumpkin crawfish and the other on a green pumpkin magic trick worm shaky head. Fished out the cove, had one good bite on shaky head. Ran over to Hong Kong Island, saw a guy fishing on the point so I just slowly ran down the bank on idle so as to not disturb him and look for a place to fish. Some jerk came zooming in between me and the bank, and stopped about 100 ft. away. No class. Started fishing back toward the point. Caught a catfish on a green pumpkin crawfish, about 5 lbs. Saw the guy was bream fishing, he said he had been catching catfish too. Went around him down the bank , no luck. Decided to run to the Firehole. Boy was that a good decision! I caught 5 bass there on a shaky head green pumpkin magic trick worm. Biggest two went two and four lbs. respectively. All in all, the best day I’ve ever had on Percy Priest. Thanks Brian for the suggestion to throw plastic worms and crawdads and for the map showing the Firehole! Thanks to the rest of you who said you were catching fish on green pumpkin. Took out a lot of guesswork. I was staying in 8′ – 10′ of water casting to 4′ to 6. ‘ Caught 8 bass total with the top two 2 and 4 lbs. Plus a 5 lb. catfish! 😀
