    Good evening and Happy Halloween,

I have just purchased my first boat. I live 15 minutes from JPP and want to know how to fish it better, navigate the channels and cut throughs, and have a better feel for the lake in general. From the 4 times I have been out there (in 10 days), I find myself spending most of my time south of Hobson Pike bridge. I like to bass fish and am gaining a love for crappie fishing. I bought 2 Lowrance Elite 7 Chirp units to help with the navigation. I just want to have a better feel for the lake overall.

My question is this– if any of you that are well acquainted with the lake want a coangler or would want to jump in my boat with me, please let me know. Any wisdom and knowhow would be greatly coveted.

I am 34 years old with a family. I love being out on the water. I like to listen and learn.

Text me 615.772.5466 or reply to this thread if you would be willing to teach me a few things.

    Thank you!

I quit fishing in October and focus on hunting until the end of February. March 1, back on the boat. This is a great site with lots of great people. I’ll definitely look you up when I go back out.

    What boat did you get?
I fish a lot during the week, weekends I spend with family you can tag along with me one day during the week If that works I’d be happy to show you around so you don’t break up your new ride. Priest is dangerous especially above Hobson pile if you aren’t familiar with it.

Best suggestion is GPS with the Maps. That will show you lake depths and contours so you can learn the lake better. I agree this lake is very shallow in odd spots. No use tearing up a lower end our even hurting yourself badly.

+1 for GPS with a Navionics chip (not sure if LakeMaster has PP mapped or not). I believe it’s the biggest advancement in fishing since the flasher was invented! It’s a game changer, especially on these southern reservoirs.

Suggest you reset depth off sets on your navionics or other map cards as the lake is down now about 2ft from summer pool which changes contour readings. Some large pass through areas now between islands can become dangerous with things that were covered by 3 ft of water now only by 1 ft. Can tear up a prop or worse easily if not alert.

    Thank you all.

I bought a 1999 triton fish and Ski. My wife reminded me that being daddy was most imortant, so getting a 2 seat bass boat would have been a bad decision. I chose right.

    150 Johnson
    70 lb thrust MK
    Two 7 inch chirp units

I’d love to hook up anytime. My cell is posted.

LakeMaster does have Priest. Best purchase I have made in a while!
