Last few days we’ve been crappie fishing. The crappie have locked down since the last couple cold nights. I can see them in the trees on our downscan, but cannot trigger them to bite. Prior to the front we’ve been catching them up like around spring and Fall Creek. The main like flats have been holding crappie in 8 to 12 feet of water around brush piles and stumps. Tightline minnows off the bottom has been productive, but finally casting jigs and slowly retrieving off the bottom have been productive as well. I’ve been using a 1/8 ounce crappie magnet jig with a pearl with black flake crappie magnet. The water is down almost 3.5 feet. I will continue to fish up lake near the flats and wood. The crappie seem to be scattered and reluctant to bite.
