Today I bared the cold and wind for 3 short hours from 6:30-9:30am. I launched at Mona boat ramp up in the river and headed down lake towards the East and West Fork split. I fished the banks right at the split with a Bandit 300 shad color, T-rig and jig with no bites. Then I motored into the West Fork 500 yards to the blown out bridge. There I missed one on a jig(3/8oz, brown/orange with Paca Chunk trailer). I picked up my buzzbait and made several cast in 1ft-3ft around shallow rock and stumps. I had 4 strikes, but never hook into one:( Then I switched over to the East Fork boat ramp, flipping my jig around the rocks….not a bite.

As I headed in I fished the bank just passed Mona boat ramp. No bites there either.

All and all tough day! The West for is very clear and the East Fork has a little color. Water temp 54-56.

Brian, is the lake turning over yet? I caught one keeper on a rattle trap near Lamar Hill. Had to keep the trolling motor on 3 to stay in the same place.

I believe so. Fish seem to be concentrating consistently shallow and not suspending as much.

With these very cold temps I may have to start trying to learn the winter pattern a bit early. I really wanted that good fall bite 🙁

Does anyone have any luck on the gold rapla cd-7 this time of year? It seems to be a fish catching machine in the spring….
