Today I had two crappie trips……..both were fair.

On my first trip I headed down lake towards Four Corners Marina and fish BCGS brushpile #5. There we caught 8, including 3 keepers on Crappie Magnets(1/8oz, Percy and Yellow color). The trees were in 18ft-20ft. The next few trees we hit were in the same depth, catching one here and one there. Half way through our trip I moved back up lake. I fished stumps and brushpiles in 10ft-20ft on the two big flat drop offs past the Spring/Fall Creek intersection(going up lake). We fished the same lures there, but also picked up several keepers tight lining minnows. The crappie were biting pretty good there and the yellow bass were biting too! We ended up with 10 keepers.

My second trip I went straight back to the same drop offs. We caught more yellow bass later in the day and few small largemouth bass(which I thought was the lake record crappie for 15 seconds). As for the crappie, we caught around 16-18, including 10 keepers on same Crappie Magnets!

All and all, fair day. 20 keepers!

My son and I went out for about 4 hours today. We threw every but the boat ancor and couldn’t buy a strike. We started about half way up Stewart creek and had no luck at all along the rock walls. Moved down to center lake saw lots of bate balls and large fish in spots at about 21-25ft. Dropped a spoon on top of their heads no takers. Tried drop shot, no luck. Fished the weakly bridge and rifraf flipping shakeyheads and deep crankbait still no luck. Flipped watermelon jig black craw trailer all the way down the rock wall near the Faith Sanders Rec. boat ramp only caught a bologna sandwich when we stopped for a coffee break.

Seems like they were gathering in deep pockets that dropped from 12-14ft to 21ft or more near the channel but they just wouldn’t eat. Would like to go out again tomorrow, but not sure what it takes to get them to bite.

Hopefully some of you guys had better luck and can shed some light on a more productive plan.

I heard it was a tough bass day. John Hopkins, one of the best on the lake only caught 4 bass all day!

Makes me feel better no fish today from my friend and I. Started with bluffs that are straight across of Longhunter when leaving the ramp. Used jigs floatn fly spinner bait shakey head. Then we finished up around pools knob area once again Rockbluff’s. We also finished rock bluffs across from that state Boatramp on the way to pools knob?..not sure what area that is called. Fish a little bit and Bryants Grove just didn’t have a good feel about the spot. Finished docks fate Sanders no luck. And we finished the weakly bridge no luck thought we would catch something there. Oh well better luck next time.

Well, I did better than yesterday, but that’s not saying much. Caught one on a jig at Hongkong. Talked to a couple of anglers at the boat ramp who said they caught several short fish jigging spoons and blade baits in 35 feet of water. Gotta get some decent blades and spoons.

We did throw spoons for a while but nothing. I do have blade baits and I did not try also did not try rattletrap or drop shot.

Caught 2 keepers today. One with a SSR5 in shad color near the stake bed across from the ramp in Stewart. Caught another one on a SR5 shadrap in crawfish orange color at the pocket area to the right of the first cut through down from Fate Sanders where the unused ramp is. Both keepers were up in 1-3ft of water.

I tried fishing behind Fate Sanders but didn’t get a bite. Never understood why Brian and everyone fishes back there. There issn’t much water back there right now. Only structure I saw on my side scan was directly to the left of the boat stalls but didn’t catch anything there.
