Monday I had a fantastic day on the water with some great clients. In just four hours we caught over 45 crappie, including 31 keepers! The first few brushpiles we fished started off with a bang and we never had to move far. All morning we fished in 13ft-16ft with live minnows and Crappie Magnets. The most productive colors were white/clear w/ blue sparkles and black/chartreuse fished on 1/8oz jigs.

We started out fishing brushpiles out in front of Pooles Knob boat ramp. From there we moved to some on the other side of the channel. After around 9 keepers there, we moved over near the Youth Incorporated camp, just past the second through coming from Fate Sanders Marina. Fishing the bank just before the YI boat dock in 11ft-14ft, we grabbed several more keepers. The next 2 hours we fished several brushpiles out in the middle of the lake near the YI camp and continued catching keepers!

    Great day!

Brain – When you’re fishing the crappie magnets are you usually just straight lining them or making casts?

When they are in 4-6 ft of water, what kind of structure do you target?

In the summer I tight line the magnets. In spring and fall I cast. Brian
