Going to hit the water this weekend, EARLY in the morning to find some crappie, have never slow trolled jigs or cranks and was wondering where would be a good place to start on OH. I usually shoot docks or fish brush but want to spread my horizons. I’ve got Bandit 200 and 300 in quite a few colors and about any jig you can find. I live near Bledsow park but can put in anywhere.

    Thanks in advance,
    Ray

I put in at 5:30am, when I got over there I couldn’t help myself. I had intended on trolling cranks or jigs along the channel and wound up shooting docks, they have some of the best docks I’ve come across, close to the channel and lots of lifts and pontoons in the slips. First dock I shot caught two keepers and then about a dozen 6″ to 8″ shorts. That was the pattern pretty much the next several hours I fished. Had quite a few docks I caught short fish with no keepers, which after 2 or 3 of them I desided if I didn’t catch a keeper after 4 fish I was moving to the next dock. Had a great time, wound up with 11 keepers when I left at 10. Thats when the jet ski’s started coming out of the wood work. I’m pretty pumped about fishing in there when the weather cools down although the water temp started out at 74 degrees, and when I left it was 80 not to warm for this time of the year. I was fishing 1/16oz. glow green jig heads with hot grubs in blue/grey with chart tail and Mo Glo chart slab slayer. Most hits came on the fall so Hi Vis line is a big advantage. Maybe next time I’ll try trolling…maybe.

    Have a great day,
    Ray

Great post! I love dock shooting…..I need to go soon. I learned how to dock shoot at lake in AL, so much fun. Next time your out try the crappie magnets, they love them!

What color CM do you like most? I have the white with specle and Chart and have not done real well with them, I have also used Bison in TM and was hit and miss, either they killed it or would have nothing to do with em. Last fall a freind and I shot four corners Marina and we absolutely killed them. The cross members are tough to deal with especially if the fish wraps the member.

I use a few different colors, but I find myself using pearl, white/chart, purple/chart and red/chart a lot.
