After watching the Titan’s game I had to hit the water to unwind a little. Started out shooting some docks with 1/16 jigs and an assortment of hot grubs and tube jigs. I was catching short fish but no keepers. Then I hit a lay down tree that ranged from 8 feet to 4 feet of water. I started out on the deep end tightlining a Bobby Garland MoGlo slab slayer with 1/8 jig head. At 4 feet I got the familiar thump and had my first keeper, I worked the brush for another three keepers all about 12″. Then I went to some stake beds in the 4 to 6 foot range. I cast a 1/16 jig with twister tail in blue/white with chart tail over the stake beds and picked up another couple keepers before I ran out of light. Water temps were in the mid 70’s, I was fishing up around Bledsow Creek but believe this pattern would work throughout the lake. Hoping to try the Crappie magnets I got last week from Brian next trip out, with the limited time I had I went with what I knew would put fish in the boat.
I think this is going to be a really good fall season,

    Good luck to all,
    Ray

Rayzor65, I went out bassin Yesterday morning around 6am and about 11 am the bass somewhat turned off so I thought I’d try some of the stake beds and lay downs in the Stewart creek area to see how the crappie magnet did compared to live minnows. using 2 hooks, I tied a minnow about 8″ above the 1/8 oz sinker and a black and chartreuse crappie magnet about 10″ above the minnow. Tight lining above the structure in about 12′ to 14′ I caught 14 crappie in about an hour. 10 of the 14 were caught on the crappie magnet and only 4 on the live minnow. Not sure this could be considered a scientific study, but I’ sold on the crappie magnet…

I’m going this evening for a couple hours, the rods are all rigged up with CM’s and boat is ready. I’m going to work one under a bobber set to go just over the top of the stake beds and also try a straight retrieve, will post tomorrow how I do.

    Happy fishing,
    Ray

Got out for a couple hours yesterday afternoon, OH was down about a foot. Crappie were not in the same places as Sunday afternoon and didn’t really have enough time or gas in the boat to look for them. Used the white/chart and pearl/spec. CM’s. I caught roughly 10 total with 2 being keepers (barely). I’m getting a better selection of CM this evening and hoping to hit the water Friday afternoon. Might be pretty good fishing before the front pushes through.

    Good luck,
    Ray
