With the water temps at 80+ degrees in some sections of the lake, I believe majority of the fish are moving deep at this point. The shallow grass can always produce but I would only target the areas that are close to deep water. Having said that, the primary baits/lures for the deep ledge bite would be a deep diving crankbait (i.e. Strike King 6XD), swimbait, carolina rig, football jig, drop shot, shakey head, etc. And the places that you would want to start looking would be the main channel ledges and main lake points.

    Hope this helps!

I don’t get too worked up about color. More times than not, I tend to think we’re more concerned about it than the fish are! Haha. Having said that, whatever bait/lure I’m using I try to make it as natural as possible while also being as visible (to the fish) as possible. If I’m fishing soft plastics, some sort of green pumpkin and black and blue are standard colors for clear/stained and dirty water, respectively. If I’m fishing shad imitations (crankbait, swimbait, jerkbait, etc.) I’ll stick to a natural pattern. If the water is clear I’ll use a translucent color. The more stained/dirty the water, I’ll use a solid white/citrus shad pattern.

The ledges up lake produced well for me Monday. Near cages bend and Station Camp in 3ft-6ft while sitting in 8ft-15ft is where we focused. Texas rig black Baby Hueys is what worked for us. I also fished around Cairo boat ramp fishing every point with grass I could find at the mouth of pockets, creeks, ets. We caught a bunch of big fish with Bull Ribbit green/white frogs, texas rig worms, and swimming a blk/blu Strike King 1/4oz Bitsy Bug with a white fluke trailer.
