Sunny – Light Wind – Water Temp 59-64 – clarity stained to clear

Launched at Shutes Branch at 11am and decided to fish the day in Drakes Creek. I had prevoiusly marked 20 waypoints using Google Earth – Navionics – GPSBlabel – Hummingbird PC and transferred to my HB 899-859 units. My thinking was that the LM had starting staging on 1st & 2nd points with cover inside creeks in that had access to shallow flats for later spawn areas. The first 6 coves on the east side I tried fishing in 4-12 feet of water and around docks with no luck. Next I moved to the west side just south of Creekwood Marina and hit some laydowns and rocky banks again no luck. After passing south of Drakes Creek Marina I fished some laydowns, boat docks and rock walls in front large homes and my first fish came on the rattle trap 2-3 feet off the wall…LM 17in 2.74 lbs. Continued to fish up and down the wall plus the point at the end and nothing. Moved accross the lake to First Class Landing and fished both sides plus a few docks and nothing. Next moved up lake to the rocks 2nd cove past Shutes on right side where I caught the 8.5 pounder 10 days ago and caught the smallest LM in history on the rattle trap…fish measures 1.5 inches!

Lures used 1/2oz rattle trap in crawfish, 1/2oz red eye shad in crawfish, suspending jerk bait in clown, 3/8 swim jig green craw trailer, 1/4 tube in green red flake.

Never seen so many pleasure boats on the lake at one time…guess Spring is here.
