Old hickory

Was out yesterday afternoon from 2:30-4:30. Concentrated on main lake ledges from Cedar Creek back towards the dam. I thought with them pulling current, we would get some fired up. Not to be. Caught one on a 6XD, and two on 10″ worm. Fish would short strike the crank bait and pick up and drop the worm. Really a strange bite.

I haven’t been since 8/4.
That day was super slow for me. I fished ledges from Avondale down to the dam with probably 1 bite all day. The generation schedule showed that they were generating, but there wasn’t much water moving above Old Hickory Marina. I did see a lot of fish chasing both micro-shad [.5-1″] and on occasion larger gizzard shad [6-8″]. They wouldn’t hit anything I was throwing though – large or small. 6XD, Squarebills, Large Spoon, Hair Jig, 2.5″ swimbait, etc…

I have not fished there in a few weeks. I was skipping a floating worm under the overhanging trees near flippers, and I caught one about 3 pounds. I missed another one that was at least 3.

Went Sunday Cedar Creek area. Caught 6 fish one keeper at 2.8lb. Still a lot of micro-shad out there. Nothing on topwater early in the morning which was surprising. Caught everything on crankbaits and rattle traps. So much bait on my HDS7…I was done by 10am. Some fish were in the jumps too.
