Plan to launch at Fate Sanders Marina around 630am and fish until say 1130am.

    Questions:

    1) Where to fish?

    2) How deep?

    3) What baits to use?

    4) If I fish the flats near the pump house near Jefferson Springs, how do I best get my boat up into the 1′ or 2′ of water where the weeds are ?

    5) How do I best find the small cove to the left of Stewarts Creek mouth and do I fish only just near its mouth or should I go all the way to its back with about 1′ of water ?

    5) It is forecast to warm up into the 80’s on Friday, what should be the impact on where the bass are due to the wamer weather ?

    Your input will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Mike N

I have not fished around Fate Sanders or Stewarts Creek but I fished between Long Hunter and Pooles Knob on Monday and today. The bite for me has been fairly consistent up until around noon. Monday I caught 11 with 5 keepers and today had 10 with 4 keepers. The biggest I have caught was 3 1/2 but all the keepers have been solid 2 to 2 1/2 lbs. I have caught every fish except 2 on Hoppys Hawg Buzz white 3/8 oz (thanks Brian). Mostly fishing 1 to 4 ft of water. Finding banks with shade on them and throwing at any piece of cover I see. Also keeping my foot on the trolling motor and covering as much water as possible. I did catch a couple on a fluke. Hope this helps.

Here’s your answer to #5 How to get to 1st cove, Yes fish the back. You might want to rase both your trolling motor and main motor. GOOD luck let us know how you do…

I caught a few tonight on a senko off the bank in the woods at lamar hill.No size to brag about. Had to use a spinning rod because there were to many trees in the way. Hopefully the cold front will be winding down soon.

The results for fishing on Fri., 10/11:

    1) Mouth of Stewards Creek = saw a little bait activity and had a few strikes, but no hook-ups
    2) Mouth of Cove with Water Ski Course = again some bait activity and once in awhile a fish would break the surface, but only a few strikes & no hook-ups
    3) Small Cove to the left of cove with the water ski course near Stewards Creek = lots of bait activity, worked the left bank until it got too swallow to go farther towards back of this cove, one or two strikes only
    4) Worked way back out of the above cove, then fished right bank until reaching the point where the cliff turns on the point near the boat ramp at Stewards Creek Rec. area = a few strikes, more bait activity, but no hook-ups
    5) Move to the cove behind Fate Sanders Marina worked the North bank all the way to the back of the cove = results on strikes & no hook-ups

All and all a nice day to be on the lake, but fishing was way harder than we expected, we will try again on Monday, 10/14.

Slalom Ski area:…If you look at the map I posted above earlier, Instead of turning into the cove on the left, the ski area cove is on the right. Hope this helps.
