I’m preparing for the weekend. I’m fishing a tournament out of Long Hunter on Saturday. Unfortunately, the tournament doesn’t start until 7am (don’t ask me why), so most likely I’ll be fishing used water all day. Hopefully I don’t miss the top water bite altogether. Anyways, I was hoping to come up with a game plan by tomorrow since I won’t be able to fish. I know Brian and one of his other guides did well on Wednesday in a EMT tournament. I went out in kayaks with a friend to Fall Creek before work on Tuesday morning and saw a guide taking some clients back there. They were bass fishing when we saw them and hadn’t had much success. It looked like Trey Neal (part of the BCGS) but I’m not sure because the boat wasn’t wrapped in BCGS. Anyways, they hadn’t had success by the time I had to leave at 8:00am.

I’m hoping Brian gives some insight on his EMT tournament success but if not the very least I would like to know if the water is currently muddy uplake (I might just drive out there Friday after work and look). Does anybody know where, when, and how many boats are participating in tournaments all around Percy Priest on Saturday. I’m more comfortable uplake but if it’s a crowded field at Fate Sanders/Stewarts Creek, I’m probably going to go down lake again and just hope I can find 5 keepers.

I’m fishing the USA Bassin tourney out of Fate Sanders. It should have between 30-50 boats in it. I plan on running until I see the dam first thing in the morning. From what I have seen my last few trips, I believe my best chance for catching the right 5 are on that end of the lake right now. If that wind gets up like they are calling for, then I may move back up lake a bit. I hate that the 1 day cold front is coming in, but hopefully it won’t slow the bite too much. I know that first ride of the day will be a bit chilly.

Unless something has drastically changed, there will be like 10-12 boats in that event. I fished it last year and it never had more than 15 boats. By the end of the spring schedule it was down to 7 boats (so I didn’t come back). I understand it’s under new management so hopefully it rebounds.

My tournament doesn’t blast off from Long Hunter until 7am (stupidly). Anyways, I just can’t decide what to do. I did manage 2nd place with 4 fish last weekend down lake by the dam but I felt as though I got lucky honestly.

Same to you buddy. There were 28 or 30 boats in the last tournament. It seems to be ran really well this year so we shall see. I’m just fishing to qualify for the Old Hickory regional and a chance at 5k. I like the down lake area for the chance at big fish.

I’m going uplake tomorrow before work to try it

Apparently Trey Neal of BCGS whacked em today. Glad somebody knows how to catch them

Putting up report now. However, fall creek spooks was what worked for me in tournament. I would use plastic slowly, today……clear and cold.

I ended up doing ok. I posted my results on Kroger’s “I’m now a believer in the wind” post
