I like the Lews Reels! I use the $99-$169 range. They cast far and are really smooth for me. The only issue I have with these reels is the handle grips. If you watch me set the hook and fight fish in the Elite Videos my fingers slip off the grips often.

Lews reels all the way. The new $79 MG Baitcaster is probably the hands down best reel in that price range. I also have some of the $100+ reels and I can say the MG reel does everything the more expensive ones do.

Abu Garcia Revo Sx is what I use.
    Price tag $159.99..
Brian you might want to look at
replacing your grips to the eva knobs.
The revo eva knobs will fit the lews reels.
You can get them on ebay for $19.99.
I’ve replaced all my knobs to eva knobs.
    And love them no slips…

    +1

I have three of them and they’ve been good to me.

As for reel care, I’m by no means an expert but while the ardent stuff works, I prefer the Penn cleaner in the spray bottle and the Shimano drag grease. The Shimano grease works on both gears and drag system washers.

Here’s the link for the grease: http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shimano_Reel_Grease/descpage-SHRG.html

Thanks everyone for your quick responses. But what about spinning reels .? My wife likes the spinners and I can’t buy a new reel for myself and you know. Lol . And any thoughts on reel oils?
