Report December 2-4
Well I am in between projects at work, so I’ve been getting as much fishing in as possible before the next gig. I went out Monday and started in the back of the YMCA cove. I started fishing a squarebill on the back flat with no luck. I started working up the right side bank (going out) and picked up the trusty shad rap. On one of the first few casts I stuck a 5lber that was sitting on a boulder in about 3 FOW. With no more luck I moved to on stopping at several places with no luck. I ended up running to the bluff wall outside of Hobson boat ramp. There I caught another 5lber as worked closer to the point outside of Hobson. She really thumped the jig in about 17 FOW. After working that spot a little more with no luck I moved on to the small island next Bear Island and caught 2 largemouth that were 14″. I made one more stop on the point/roadbed by Hamilton Creek boat ramp. There, I picked up 2 nice smallies in my first 5 casts on a jig. Overall, fishing was slow, but the bites i did get were quality ones so it was definitely a great day.
On Tuesday I was excited to get back on the water since the weather was supposed to be nicer, but fishing was tough for me. I fished several of the same spots and a few new ones. I only caught one keeper on Tuesday which really surprised me. I lost what felt like a good fish in the YMCA cove on a jig, but my line broke.
Even though I had a tough day on Tuesday, I went back Wednesday and didn’t catch a thing. I had 1 bite on the jig and missed the fish and had 3 bumps while slow rolling a spinnerbait. I guess that’s fishing though. Always great to get on the water, fish or no fish. Hopefully the weather stabilizes some next week, so I can get back out.
Here’s a pic from the fish I caught on Monday.
