Headed out Sat afternoon and was wondering what area and what lures would be best. Supposed to be mid to upper 50’s with rain coming in Sunday. Will put in at Stewarts Creek and was thinking head towards Spring/Fall creek or even further up to Jefferson. Thoughts?

That sounds like a good idea to me. The water is clearer and the temp is 49. Bluff wall transitions and shallow rocks should be good.

I was out fishing on Friday. Super weather. I put in at Long Hunter and went up around Hong Kong. The water was more brown tinted than I would have thought. I was mostly playing around trying to learn how to longline crappie fish. I surprisingly caught 3 keepers on black/chart 1/16 jigs. Boat was actually in 22 feet of water. I suspect the jig was down around 14′ but I am not sure. I didn’t really expect to catch squat, so 3 was good. I suck at crappie fishing but really want to learn it. I have mostly bass fished my whole life. Had enough of bass tournaments and want to learn to catch some crappie. Longlining was fun. Hopefully I will get better at it with some more experience. I had 4 rods out and kept the boat at .6mph. That is about it. Sure was two a pretty day to be on the lake.

Sounds like a good day for trying something new! 3 keepers is plenty to build confidence and get you excited about your next trip!

I didn’t get out there til roughly 1:00 and was raining by 2:30 or so. I zeroed. Would have stayed longer if a little warmer. I can take the cold, I can take the rain, but put em both together and I’m headed home!
