I fished a club tourney out of Sanders Ferry Saturday morning. Our club had about 25 boats fishing and there was also the ABA Team Trail launching from there which had 117 boats. So, needless to say, the lake was incredibly crowded.

My partner and I opted to stay towards the lower end of the lake (between Bluegrass and Rockland). We had no trouble finding the fish, just couldn’t get the big ones to bite. We caught close to 40 fish, but only had 4 keepers.

All fish were caught in less than 8 ft of water and most of them were in or near shallow grass patches. The lures that produced the most fish for us were square bills, rattle traps, shakey head, and swim jig.

We didn’t get the big bites we were looking for, but it’s hard to complain about a day of 40 bass in the boat.

Yeah, hard to complain about a 40 fish day, haha.

What were some of the weights weighed-in at the tourney?

    1st place had 18lbs and big fish at 5.8lbs. 2nd place weighed 17lbs. 3rd place had 16.5lbs.
