Fished the Saturday Morning Tournament out of Fate Sanders by myself today, partner had to work.
Blast off was at 7am, went straight across Fate Sanders Marina to the cable cross sign started fishing to the right of the sign went midway down the bank…BAM!
Keeper Small mouth, almost 3 lbs.
Caught on 1.5 KVD (Gizzard Shad)
Fished on around to the second cove, nothing.

Went to my second spot in Fate Sanders Marina, fished down left bank going into the marina, fishing a #5 shad rap (shad color)…BAM!
    Keeper #2!
Fished all the way to the back of Fate Sanders…nothing.

Left Fate Sanders went over to Fate Sanders sister cove.
Went all the way to the back coming up the left side…BAM!
    Keeper #3!
Caught on #5 shad rap (shad color).

Then turned around, went back down the same bank and came back up it…BAM!
Keeper #4, caught on KVD Red Eye Shad (Sexy/Chart)
    Fished on down the bank…nothing.

Left there went back over to Fate Sanders Marina, fishing the left side. Got down to the same spot that I caught Keeper #2 at and BAM!
    Keeper #5!
Caught on #5 Shad rap (shad color)
    Fished on around…nothing.

Thought I would go on down the bank 1 more time to try my luck…BAM!
Keeper #6 caught on shad rap (shad color)..I HAD TO CULL!!!
Good swap from a 2 lb fish to a 4 1/2 lb fish!!

Ended up the day with 5 fish total weight 15.26 lbs.
finished the tournament in 2nd place.
First place won with 22lbs (Mickey Beck)

All in all great day 6 bites, 6 keepers!

    Congrats!
Great report. I guess I’ll be cranking tomorrow instead of learning to fish a spoon. 😀

Ha, I think I saw you fishing the left bank in Fate Sanders. I went down that same bank with a orange crawfish #5 and didn’t get a nibble. I should have thrown the shad color in that clearer water. lol

Probably was me you saw. I have a white Javelin (2001 model).
I caught 3 keepers on that bank, one was a 4.29lb largemouth.
The crazy thing about the whole day was, I was having trouble getting my motor started.
I had to troll outside the no wake buoys at blast off.
It was hit and miss on the motor starting (when I turned the key the motor wouldn’t turn over. Think it might be the ignition switch)
so I decided to stay close to Fate Sanders just in case I couldn’t get it to start up.
I knew I could at least use the trolling motor to get back in for weigh in..
Was a tough way to start a tournament, but luckily when I needed the motor to start it did.
I fished that tournament last Saturday also.
Last week, My first stop was across from Fate Sanders, same place I caught the keeper smallmouth this week.
I lost a 4 pounder there last week.
Then went over to the sister cove and lost a 3 pounder there too!
I got so mad had the boat back on the trailer by 10am..my confidence was broken.
Boy, my wife gave me an earful for leaving the tournament early! lol!
AND I swear she called Bill Dance because his show last week was called “A Word Called Confidence”!

That’s pretty darn funny… and unfortunate, of course. I think we’ve all been there, or close to that point at one time or another.

Kudos on the detailed report, not to mention the awesome day on the lake! However, 22lbs from Mickey Beck… excuse me guys but are you $h!tt!n’ me?! I thought for sure you had the victory in the bag as I was reading the report but then to read that not only did you get beat but, by 7lbs… my mind is blown. Can anyone confirm whether or not he was using dynamite, or trailered down to Guntersville for the day?? Haha 😉 .

    Congrats again, Rolltidech!

Also, if I was interested in fishing one of these “Saturday Morning Tournaments,” how would I find out more information about them? Is there a website or anything?
