Today I fished with BCGS guide, Arnie and the Hagman. Like always, we focused on crappie! Tightlining minnows in 2 to 3 feet off the bottom we focused on brushpiles in 12 to 18 feet of water….however our best trees were in 18 feet.

We stayed around Mousetail Island for 4 hours and caught around 15 keepers. Anything in 11 to 15ft we would maybe catch 1 every 5 trees. Finally we got onto 2 trees in the 18 to maybe 20 ft range and caught 6 or 7 out of each!

We went past Hobson Pike bridge in the cove to the left and tried a couple trees in 16ft without any luck. We also tried a few trees around Fate Sanders Marina in 11 to 13 feet of water. Again we had zero luck. Luckily after fishing 25 trees we had around 20 keepers.

I wanted to fish more trees around Bird Island, but we ran out of time and minnows. We head several giants and most of the keepers were between 11.5 to 13.5 inches.

Looking forward to getting out again and trying some new trees around Bird Island and also for the cooler temperature to move it any week!

Lastly, the the next few weeks I’ll be practicing and fishing two tournaments on Old Hickory Lake and will post some reports from over there!
