Got back in town last night from a week at the beach with the family……ready to do some serious fishing! This morning I met up with the Hagman around 6:30am and we started at the Youth Inc camp fishing the 10ft hump just passed the second cut through. After two brushpiles, 6 short crappie, and 1 keeper in 30 minutes we packed it up and headed down lake.
I stopped at the Four Corners side of Mouse Tail Island and started fishing brushpiles in 14ft-18ft. We caught a few on a chartreuse Crappie Magnets with a pink 1/8oz jig, but minnows were dominating! After 8-10 bruspiles we had around 18 nice keepers! We moved around to the west side of the island facing Hobson Pike bridge and fished 2 brushpiles….catching 3 more keepers and several shorts.
I thought I’d try a few new brushpiles I rarely fish. I motored over near Fireman’s Hole(fourth point on the right if your coming from Four Corners) and we caught 10 more with 2 keepers on a 15ft rock pile with a stakebed.
The rain was starting to move closer so we decided to try a couple more trees and then head in. Over near the cove at Pooles Knob campground we fished a big brushpiles in 15ft next to the fish attractor buoys off the main channel……nada.
Our last spot before we got soaked was on the flat across from Hong Kong Island. Fishing a stake bed in 12ft we caught 10, including 3 more keepers!
Short, but fun day back on the water! I think we ended up with 23 keepers! I’ll be bass fishing all Saturday and look forward to posting a good report!!!!
