Ok, so I’ve taken the last 3 Saturdays to test out my new HDS 10 (moved the 8 upfront and sold the 7). I’ve watched the Sonar Professor’s videos and I wanted to try some new things besides the part about where I’m fishing Old Hickory some again this year so I figured I’d start there. (Hoping to find some crappie spots a little closer to home as well). Anyways, throughout the last 3 Saturdays I’ve uncovered some amazing things: crappie stakes, underwater bridges, old roadbeds, boulders, rock piles, etc etc etc but today this blew me away.

I was in Cedar Creek and I just started my journey. I wanted to look at some ledges for later in the summer. As I headed from Lone Branch to the river channel, as I entered the creek channel, my sidescan went nuts. As soon as I dropped over into the creek channel, there was bait EVERYWHERE. It covered the screen. You literally could not get away from it. I stayed there and picked up an a-rig and threw it a dozen times (pulling it down the drop) just hoping against hope there were some bass in the area. Anyways, I went on my way and didn’t think anything of it really. I went out in the river and in the pockets doing some scanning and a little fishing (even caught 2 by accident lol). On my way back, I wanted to go see what some of my new crappie structure looked like on the sidescan I put out last week. So I went and checked that out and then re-entered Cedar Creek. I was blown away. This bait was still there. Now, this mega-school was out in the creek channel well past the “Cedar Creek” sign at the mouth. I wanted to see how far back it went. I idled with the side scan on all the way until I got to the bluff across from the Cedar Creek Marina. That has to be, what, at least 1/4 of a mile? Maybe 1/2 a mile? Have you ever heard of a such a thing? It was constant. At about the 13-15ft range, the bait was just there.

I even checked it again and again to make sure it wasnt my units.

The bait was staying close to the bottom and only rising about 5ft-7ft off the bottom but it was SOLID for hundreds of yards. I’ve fished big balls of bait in the winter time at Center Hill before but nothing I’ve ever seen compared to this. I didn’t see this in any other cove. What’s up?!

    (I included some pics)
