  • Skeet Reese S glass or Duckett Ghost cranking rod?

I need a dedicated crankbait rod and I have found both a skeet reese s glass for $50 and a duckett ghost cranking rod for $75. Both are brand new. Which one would you prefer as I am buying one of these tomorrow.

I agree. Those Duckett’s look clean and I’ve heard good things, especially for that price!

hey bud. I am leaving town tomorrow for guntersville for a 4 day trip. If you have a cranking rod, toss them in the truck and I may be able to buy one from you tomorrow

I have two cranking rods. One is a deep crank rod from skeet reese and the other is just a crankbait rod from him. I’m not overly impressed with them. They do the job, just not as high a quality as ducketts seem to have

    Just my opinion
I own a Duckett 7′ Ghost cranking rod and over time my reel has become loose in the reel seat.
I have it paired with an Abu Garcia SX.
Recently, I have purchased a 7’3″ Ike rod from Tackle Warehouse, 50% backbone 50% tip for my 1.5 & 2.5 square bills
    and LOVE it!
    It loads up great!
I have it paired up with an Abu Garcia SX.

Just wanted to inform you of the problem I have had with the Duckett.
The Ike rods will now be my go to rods.

Chuck how long have u the Duckett rods? I have had mine only about 6 months. I like them and plan to get more but not if there are known issues down the road. Did have problems with more than one rod?

I’ve had the Duckett for around a year now.
it is the Duckett ghost which is the lower line of Duckett rods.
I only bought one of them to try out,
but when the reel started getting loose in the reel seat I said I won’t buy another one.
I’ve also had a problem with the skeet reese crank rod.
The problem I had with it was that the screw to tighten the reel down stripped out.
In my opinion, for the money, the ike rod is well made.
But if you’re looking for a light weight rod like the Duckett
the ike rod is a little bit heavier.
I do love how the ike rod feels.
And man it looks awesome as well, With the flip flop paint it’s a nice looking rod.
But as we know, looks alone don’t catch fish..lol!
as far as the action and the way the rod loads up, it’s an awesome rod.

BTW, I would up buying a duckett ghost 7’6″ MH cranking at academy. supposed to be $129 but they had it mislabeled at $99. They also have all of their shimano citica’s on clearance for $79. I bought a citica 5.5 and matched it with the duckett. I was going to Bass Pro to buy a crankin stick and a bps extreme reel but but the duckett/citica combo only wound up being $10 more. BTW, I’m at guntersville this weekend and am Loving the combo. It will flat out fling a xd6.

It’s always great getting a new toy, especially when it works to plan! How was the fishing down on Guntersville?
