Smallmouth with the kids
We went out today from 4 pm till dark from four corners. Instead of my serious bass fishing, the whole family joined today. So instead of my bass gear we loaded up with crickets and went panfish hunting. We just went up a few coves and got out of the wind. Kids were catching sunfish and i’m baiting crickets as fast as I can. I finally just picked up a shakeyhead, tossed it out and put the rod under my armpit to hold it while I baited another cricket and this smallie nearly ripped it out of my arms, prolly 3lbs+ and about 19″. I would up catching 3 of them out of that little spot.
BTW, love fishing with my kids. 8, 4, and 3 year old. 1 to reel in, 1 to get the net, and 1 to have the measuring stick ready. And yes, we have to net and measure every fish, even the minnows. The video shows it!
