Have a customer here in Nasville I paint for.. So went to Cabbage Key Island to do some touch up painting for rent free on his Island house.. We hired a guide but his boat broke down the day we was going Deep Sea fishing.. Well long story short, we didn’t go Deep Sea fishing. So we went to eat lunch at the Island Bar and grill… As luck would have it. The guy that owns the Island was sitting at the Bar and overheard us talking about the guys boat didn’t start.. So he started talking and guess what. He took us inland fishing for snook for free, and man we had a Blast.. To bad that the Snook Season doesn’t start till today March the first.. That was to me better then Deep Sea fishing even though we had to throw them back. But musta caught 20 snook in over a 3 hour time, and even caught 3 huge sea trout… All in all I had a great trip to Florida… anyone else been snook fishing??? Trust me you will get hooked on it. most was 15 to 18 inches long, maybe 4 or 5 was 20 to 25 inches long…. Just thought id share, very different for me fishing salt water but loved it.. If you have never been snook fishing I recommend it, very fun and they sure put up a fight…I have a vidieo but its on my phone and don’t know how to share it on here. but happy Fishing Fresh and salt water.

Love snook! Too bad you didn’t get to keep any, they are great eating. We go down to Florida on an extended family trip almost every year (headed down there in 2 weeks). We fish the dock lights at night and tear them up. Here is a snook my son caught on a trip 2 years ago.

I am from Florida, lived on both coasts and the very Southern tip[ Homestead my birth place] and have very fond memories of Snook fishing. To me and my wife they are the best eating fish anywhere. my biggest Snook was thirty pounds and took me forty-five minutes to land. I was using a extra large shrimp on fifteen pound test mono, thus the reason for taking so long to land. You do not horse them especially when they are that big. I have been in Tn now eleven years and two things I miss about Fl is the Snook fishing and Sonny’s Bar-B-Que.
