Sunday afternoon 10-4
Got out there Sunday afternoon around 4:00 and stayed til dark. Caught 1 in the back of the cove across from Youth Inc. Camp. I was all the way in the back left corner where the logs jam up against the bank. Tried 7 inch motor oil worm for 10 mins or so and got nothing. Started throwing a white 3/8 oz. hawg buzz and about the third cast picked up a 13 inch LM in 2 ft. of water. They were busting shad all over the place but I only managed to get 1 from that spot. After another 15 minutes and no fish I moved to Jones Mill point and started fishing. I rounded the point and headed back into the pocket. About halfway between the point and back of the pocket…BAM….a solid keeper on the white hawg buzz! Not sure what it weighed, but was about 16 1/2 inches, maybe 2lbs? I was in about 5-6 ft. casting to the bank. He hit it about halfway back to the boat. I was retrieving it kinda slow, just a little faster than enough to keep it on the surface. 5 mins later I missed another one, but not sure how big it was. He basically lunged at it and wasn’t serious about eating it haha. Fished out the cove with no more hits. Tried chrome/red rattle trap after buzz bite seemed to stop, nothing. Headed back to Stewarts Creek, and fished the main lake point on the right after going past the ramp. Nothing in 15 mins, so I headed home. Perfect weather to be out there, just wish I had caught some more. Water temp was 66-68 and slightly stained.
