I launched at Fate Sanders just before noon and almost turned back after I saw the debris floating everywhere. I decided to ease my way around to Spring Creek, fishing in the first large cove at the entrance on the right. I went all the way to the back and found bait everywhere. For the next 3-4 hours I sat in that area and fished with weightless Senko’s wacky style and rattle traps. I caught at least 50 fish, mostly largemouths, but some really nice white bass and a few yellows. There were only around 6-7 keepers, all 15-17″, but the others were around 13-15″. The white bass were nice, most around 12-13 inches, with one 17″. The largemouths were feeding consistently but every little bit they would go in a frenzy which was where the Senko’s were a blast.

Man, I had the exact opposite experience. I fished several humps and ledges in the Bear Island/Suggs Creek area of the lake and only caught two bass and a catfish. It was a b-e-a-utiful day but tough fishing wise for me. 😕

Glad you caught them in there David! It’s a lot of fun when the bait get pushed into the back! Yeehaw

I have had good luck in the past real shallow when the water was up for a day or more. I fished for 4 hours and never caught a fish in any shallow water on Sunday. Caught a few small ones on a drop. Other than that, pretty miserable day for me.
