you probably shouldn’t put much stock into what I have to say, but for the sake of sharing…. I fished Tims Ford a couple of weeks ago and caught a few smallmouth. They seamed to hit anything I threw at them to include light blue crankbait and a double wired swim bait in white with silver glitter and road runner heads. The fish I caught were about 14″ to 19″. One of the local fisherman highly recommended a Charlie brewer /slider purple whirly bee. This was my first trip to tims Ford. I fished out of tims Ford marina. Water temp was around 56 if I remember correctly. good luck!

I grew up fishing on Tims Ford and this is the best time of year to catch smallmouth in numbers as well as large fish. I would use crawfish colored crank baits, jigs with pork trailers “blue or red” and chatterbaits. You need to fish gravel points, gravel banks with 45 degree slopes, and pockets with gravel close by. Fish the chatterbait slow like a jig to mimic a crawfish. You may have to fish several spots to find fish but when you connect you should catch several fish at that spot.
