I’ve caught a lot of hybrids this year on top-water casting into the big schools chasing bait on the surface (usually in the mornings). Since the water has cooled off, I haven’t found any surface activity at all. Is this over for the winter?

Thanks, Brian…I guess I’ve been looking in the wrong places on the lower lake. All I got this week was cold!

Caught some nice ones on top water the last 30 or so minutes yesterday. Wind finally laid down and as it got to dusk, it started.

That’s great news…what area of the lake were you fishing?

Down lake – Sailboat Cove to Hamilton Creek area – look for the birds and you will find enormous bait schools and nice size hybrid schools underneath. Large schools of hybrids were in 15 to 30 feet of water for most of the afternoon and I caught a few jigging a silver buddy. They moved shallow in the pockets the last 45 minutes or so and the top water bite started. Hope that helps.

I sure appreciate that info…..looks like I need to go try it out this afternoon. Thanks again.
