Does anybody have any suggestions for trolling for strippers? I just got 2 rod holders for xmas. Merry Christmas everybody. I was thinking about using Alabama rig but wanted to know what y’all thought.

This time of year trolling does not work so well for stripers. Starting in March it will work well, trolling either the umbrella rigs or deep diving crank baits.

Cool. Is trolling even worth trying right now? Thanks for your response.

I’m not a striper fisherman, but I believe trolling works better for all spieces when water temp starts to warm up. However, it’s always good to practice, test your new Christmas presents, and become familiar with the lake and map reading, even when fishing conditions are not that great. In the dead of winter, fish seem to like slower bait presentations and do not usually like to chase faster moving lures.

This time a year slow troll live bait for stripers, skipjack if you can get them is a must. That’s just my opinion. If you have a few planer boards that would help and be patient. I prefer Old Hickory right now.

I would love to hear more striper reports, on either lake.
