The last few weeks have been an epic struggle on the water for me. I’m not sure exactly what I am missing but I can’t put a good day together to save my life. Take this past Saturday for example…we started in Fall Creek throwing traps, squarebills, and spinnerbaits on the rocks on the left as you get into Fall Creek…nada. We rolled into Spring Creek and continued the same pattern…nada. At that point we wrote the creeks off and went down lake to the long point on the front of Hong Kong. Throwing jerkbaits on that point…nada (I have caught good fish off of this point on a jerkbait this time of year). The very next spot we hit was behind 4 corners and we caught a 3.5 and a 5.5 on a red eye shad and 1.5 squarebill. We fished for 3 more hours without another bite. I can’t figure out if I need to run down lake first and hit those points with jerkbaits first and then move into the shallower water as the day goes on. I would have figured Spring and Fall Creek would be busting wide open with 55-57 degree water. I can’t figure out if I just suck at fishing or what the deal is. If I do truly suck, then I need to sell my boat. 🙂 It doesn’t help that they continue to jack with the water levels for what reason, I don’t know. The lake looked to be a foot lower than it was last Saturday in the Frostbite.

They are turning in fire I hear! I’ll be out with the Hagman tomorrow. Hoping for 30-40 keepers! I’ll post report….never made it out the other day. The season has definitely started…..12 trips this week!

What part of the lake will you plan to fish?

I tried the ledges at spring/fall creek and caught 6 keepers in a couple hours Sunday. It was pretty slow. I was fishing too deep I guess. 12-18 FOW.

Dang, apparently I have to step up my game! Any day with 6 keepers in 2 hours or 5.5, and a 3.5 to boot, would be considered a decent day at the very least for me .

Well I did catch 4 of them off one tree in about 5 minutes. But overall the couple hours was slow. :).

Ha. A 5.5 and a 3.5 are pretty useless when you need 5 keepers and 18 pounds to win. 🙂

I had the opportunity to be out for 3 1/2 hours yesterday. Tried several spots, not a bite. I decided to finish up behind Fate Sanders. In the next hour or so I caught 12 or so using SSR blugill pattern and 1/4 ounce rattle trap chrome sexy shad. I parked the boat in about 2 feet of water and threw into the wind away from the shore in about 3 feet of water. The bass were mighty feisty!

Forgot to mention that there were two keepers in the bunch.
