I grew up working at a marina on a lake in MN. Same thing happened to my boss, steering wheel torn from his hands on a 21′ stratos with a 225 yami. Knocked the driver unconscious when he hit the water, luckily his son was conscious and swam to keep his fathers head out of the water. The boat did circles til it ran out of gas. Luckily didn’t hit them. Very scary.
