Fall fishing is around the corner and it may come sooner than later if it stays cool. As the weather drops into the low 70’s and 60’s the bass and crappie will start moving into shallow water(even more than now). They will follow the bait into backs of coves and creeks to feed/fatten up for winter. I love to use topwater baits, shallow crankbaits, spinner baits and rattle traps.
The key is to look for the bait!
Good areas to fish down lake near Elm Hill are: Smith Springs, Hamilton Creek and Suggs creek. You can count on fish being in those areas during fall!
Fall is also a great time to use the wind to your advantage. Fish the banks and coves that the wind in blowing into.
